Level crossing in Hilton closed following collision - expected to remain closed until next week

Network Rail is advising motorists to plan their journey before setting off as the level crossing over the A5132 in Hilton, Derbyshire remains closed following a road traffic collision.

The level crossing requires emergency repair work after a vehicle crashed into it at around 16.00 on Friday 1 March, damaging the gates.

To protect the safety of train passengers, crew, motorists, and pedestrians, Network Rail has been forced to close the crossing while repair work and inspections are carried out.

The work is expected to take several days with the road estimated to reopen as normal from next week.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their journey before setting off and to use alternative routes during the closure. Trains are still able to travel along the route
