Who we are & what we do
Hilton Parish Council consists of 9 elected councillors who serve for a four year term. All Councillors are voluntary.

The principal services of the Parish Council are:
- Keeping streets clean and tidy - litter picking and emptying litter bins
- Management of Parish Council Land and influencing maintenance / improvements on other land ( eb other Councils and developers)
- Provision of football pitches (Back Lane), Astro Turf, and the major playgrounds ( by Village Hall, and Main Street) and changing facilities
- Scutinising and challenging planning applications and ensuring compliance with SDDC and Hilton Neighbourhood plan policies. Checking compliance during delivery phase.
- Funding of community activities
- Representing the village on various external committees and working groups
- As appropriate, be a focal point for the village
South Derbyshire Distict Council principally covers domestic bin collections, environmental matters, planning, housing, allotments, limited grass cutting/ tree maintenance
Derbyshire County Council principally covers Highways, Adult and Children services, Schools

Parish Council Staff
There are 5 Parish Council Staff:
Russell Pollard - Executive Officer.
3 Grounds staff - Neil Whitehouse, Anthony Morris, and TB|C
1 Administration Officer - Wendy House
This team is responsible for managing and delivering the daily operations of the Council and report to the Parish Councillors
The Grounds staff are on-site in the Parish Council garage, and around the village from 7:30am - 2:30pm Monday-Friday.

Committees

The Council sits monthly on the final Wednesday of the month. This is held in public at the Village Hall.
Annually there is a Finance Meeting in January and a Parish Meeting (between March and June) and an Annual Meeting in May.
There are occasional Planning Commitee meetings which are held when decisions need to be made on planning applicatons outside of Parish Council meetings
